You may know the Elmwood Village for it's trendy restaurants, unique boutiques or even it's great gardens, but now the village is opening the doors to some of it's most interesting cooking spaces with a Green theme in mind.

If you think spending time in the kitchen isn't all that interesting, think again...  The Elmwood Village is opening the doors to some inspirational culinary spaces that are sure to bring out the master chef in all of us! Justin Azzarella is the Executive Director of Elmwood Village Association and says there's plenty of creativity in this year's kitchen tour.

Our theme this year is green design. What we've tried to do is look at the different homes throughout the neighborhood.  Some more eclectic, some more wow factor and beautiful like the ones on the parkways. That really emphasize what homeowners are doing in their kitchens to have a greener planet.

Statley mansions and crafted homes like these along Bidwell Parkway will be showing off high end & professional design.  Their custom cabinetry, spacious countertops and attention to detail complete a kitchen space most would only dream to cook in.

The tour also presents more cost conscious and energy efficient kitchens planned and renovated with homeowner input providing savings through green design in everything from recycled wall materials with foam insulation to passive solar and energy saving radiant heat flooring.

But true to it's location several kitchens will exemplify the eclectic nature of the Elmwood Village.

When it comes to being green most people first think of energy, but here at 26 Gill Alley the theme was recycle and reuse come inside and I'll show you.  At only 900 square feet they didn't have much to work with and while it may look like a normal kitchen, every item in here has had a past life.

The cabinets was all salvaged from wood within the house that had been water damaged and we were able to recycle the parts.

While this may be 3rd year for the event almost every kitchen is new to the tour and visitors will walk away with a wide range of green design to stimulate their own culinary construction. In Buffalo, Meteorologist Andy Parker Channel 2 News.
